Sump Pump Maintenance

6/26/2020 (Permalink)

Since we are in summer storm season it’s important to make sure your sump pump, if you have one, is working correctly by doing a little maintenance. Following are some maintenance suggestions to make sure your sump pump does its job during a storm or water event.

  • Unplug the pump and empty the basin of any standing water.
  • Remove any debris from the basin and make sure the sump pump inlet screen is clear and not obstructed.
  • Plug the pump in and pour five gallons of water into the sump to verify that the float switch turns the pump on and off properly.

If you’re not sure how to do the above things it’s advised to hire a skilled professional. Stay safe this summer and keep an eye on that pump!
